Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break! 
Upcoming Testing
Please be aware that MAP benchmark testing is coming up for third grade on Jan. 15th. Students should just come to school having had a good night's sleep and a nutritious breakfast to fuel their work! Please make every effort for your child to be on time and in attendance on that day so that they do not lose instructional time doing make-up testing!

Language Arts
We will begin The Trumpet of the Swan this week! Please send it in asap. Spelling will be normal, with a test on Friday. Writing and grammar will focus on informational writing. Writing will actually be a big focus this quarter as we learn to formalize our skills. Students will receive their stanza to memorize from The Adventures of Isabel. The recitations will be on Jan. 23rd.

Math
We will start off this quarter learning quickly about probability. There will be a small quiz to check for understanding on Wednesday after math groups. Then we will begin our unit on Fractions!

Science
This week we will be learning about Sound! Students will learn what causes sound and how sound travels.

History
We will start our Viking unit this week! Students will begin to learn where the Vikings came from and what they did.

5/20-5/24 Last Week!

Parents, as we finish up this week, please expect your child to be bringing home their desk materials little by little. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are all half days, with dismissal time at 12:05. Friday is the last day of school! End of the Year Party Our end of the year party is Friday 5/24. You can sign up to help at the party or send in supplies here: Party Sign Up . We will be making some crafts and making our own butter! We will end the party by having snacks and watching an episode of Little House on the Prairie. Welcome to the world Andrew Anthony Valles! Born May 9, 2019 4:48PM 7lb 4oz, 21 inches long Dear 3A Class and Parents,  Thank you all so very much for the cards, gifts, tasty treats and beautiful flowers.  I am incredibly grateful and humbled by your kindness and generosity.   This is a great class and I've been blessed to be a part of this school year. Planet Project Update

Hello Families! Today was research day for our planet project and the students had a little over an hour to research information about their assigned planet. Many scholars were able to find plenty of information and fill up the research sheet, however there are also many scholars that could benefit from some additional help. We will be using this information to write an essay later this week, so it is important that they have enough information written on their research sheet. We used these websites: National Geographic and  Nasa . If you are able, help your student to peruse these sites for details about their assigned planet and fill in the information on their research sheet. Thank you so much for your support!
